Bishop Barres’ Pastoral Letter Miracle of the Sun Fatima - 100 years! is available at the doors of the church this weekend. Please take a copy with you for your own reflection.
The Bishop encourages Catholics to pray the rosary daily during the month of May. Here in St. Joseph Parish, the rosary is prayed publicly every day after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on weekdays. All are invited to join in this devotion. At other times during the week and on Sundays we encourage our parishioners to pray the rosary privately, meditating on the mysteries in silence – since there are parishioners who have requested quiet time in church for their own prayers and other personal devotions.
Our rich tradition of personal devotions is a valued part of our Catholic spiritual heritage. The rosary, novenas, chaplets, litanies, Stations of the Cross, invocations of the saints, and other prayers are worthy personal devotions. Such personal devotions that appeal to our individual spiritual lives, prayed in private, are wonderful complements to the public liturgy of the Church, which we celebrate at Mass and in the Liturgy of the Hours.
